Time to Visit Keystone
Keystone's peak seasons occur from
January to March and Late June to early September as well as during
the holidays.
April provides great deals on lodging, skiing and dining. April is
also known for great ski and snow conditions. Depending on the annual
snowfall, the majority of the Keystone Ski Resort will remain open
if conditions allow. June and September offer peak conditions for summer
recreation. Most summer events and activities kick off on Memorial
Day Weekend and run strong until the end of September. Keystone tends
to have Indian Summers, and the weather remains an average of 70 degrees
during the day through September. You can also enjoy lodging and dining
deals in September and early October.
Altitude
Issues in Keystone
Above 8,000 feet, altitude illness affects 20 to 30 percent of
visitors from low elevations to some degree. The first thing most people
notice is a shortness of breath, especially when exercising. In addition,
the heart is likely to beat faster and one may develop nausea, fatigue,
headache, or have difficulty sleeping. If you develop one or more of
these symptoms you may have Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If these symptoms
do not subside within a day or two, consult a doctor.
